  • What is The Entourage Effect?

The entourage effect is the theory that all the compounds available in cannabis work together and when taken together the cannabis compounds create a better effect than when the individual cannabis compounds are taken separately. The Research on the Entourage Effect It was once thought that combining cannabinoids and terpenes together would enhance the medicinal benefits of cannabis. There are quite a few studies that support this version of the entourage effect such as the 2011 study completed by the British Journal of Pharmacology that has shown that taking terpenes with cannabinoids may be beneficial for health issues such as anxiety, cancer, epilepsy, inflammation, and many more health issues. Recent studies, however, do not support the entourage effect occurring between the cannabinoids and the terpenes. These studies are showing that the entourage effect occurs only between the various cannabinoids, particularly the cannabinoids that are found in trace amounts (1,2.). With contradicting information about the entourage effect, the only thing we know for sure is that the entourage effect exists however we do not understand how the entourage effect works and additional research is absolutely necessary for providing solid evidence to support the entourage effect theory. • 6 Things Everyone Should Know About Edibles

Cannabis infused foods and drinks are all the cannabis craze since places like California and Colorado legalized cannabis recreationally. And I'm sure you've heard about people talking shit about their edibles out of impatience only to eat more edibles and then have the first round of edibles kick causing an extreme high that was way too much for the person to handle. As a cannabis enthusiast, I would like to point out that this edible horror story has never ended in the death of someone. Which brings me to the first thing you should know about cannabis edibles. 1. You cannot Die from Cannabis If you eat too much of a cannabis infused edible you won't die! Worst case scenario is that you will fall asleep and wake up hungry AF. It helps ease any anxiety while experiencing the psychoactive effects of THC to know that you cannot die from cannabis use. 2. CBD Lessens the Psychoactive Effects of THC CBD available to take to help decrease the psychoactive effects from the THC. CBD and THC have a ton of medicinal benefits and when they are used together CBD and THC increase their medicinal values, while CBD decreases the psychoactive effects of THC. 3. Keep Cannabis Edibles Out of Reach of Children Even though people don't die from edibles we still want to protect not only our children but other people's children from possible accidental dosing of cannabis. Getting kids high isn't funny nor is it safe unless the child is being treated for a specific medical issue like epilepsy, childhood cancers, or for mental health issues. It is important to store cannabis and cannabis infused edibles in areas that are inaccessible to children. There are also several types of containers with locks on them to easily lock up edibles and cannabis while still storing them in the refrigerator, freezer, or cabinets. Talking to your children about cannabis and how it helps people is a great way to keep a line of communication open between the parent and child about future drug use choices. If you are comfortable talking to your child about the medicinal benefits of cannabis as well as the dangers of cannabis use. 4. Label Your Edibles Clearly Not only do we want to protect our children from possible accidental dosing, but we also want to protect our friends and family. Make sure the edible you are storing have clear labels of what they are and whether they contain cannabis and how much. This not only protects friends and family, but it will also help you make the safest dosing decision the next time you go to medicate using edibles. 5. The Use of Out-of-State Caregivers is Risky AF The use of out of state edible caregivers is risky, especially if they are shipping the cannabis edibles to you. Cannabis is still classified as a schedule 1 drug on the federal level, therefore shipping cannabis or cannabis edibles is a felony and may also carry penalties on the state level as well. A person who does not have a criminal history and is caught shipping less than 110 pounds/50 kilos faces a maximum penalty of up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 if they are not charged with other federal crimes that carry their own set of penalties. A person who has a previous criminal history who is caught shipping under 100 pounds/50 kilos of cannabis face double the potential penalties as someone who does not have a criminal history with up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000. 6. Making Your Own Edibles is Easy Peasy Prison time and fines aren't fun, but making your own edibles is definitely exciting and rewarding, especially after you get over the initial anxiety of messing it up. Edibles are super easy to make and you can utilize shake, stems, reclaim, concentrates even cannabis that you've already extracted in creating your very own edibles. • What To Do If You Get Too High

Sometimes we accidentally eat too much of an edible because it tastes so freaking good or we get caught up in a smoke session with friends and need to not be so high for a meeting at your kids' school or a job interview, or maybe you just don't want to be high anymore. Whatever the reason, it is easy to bring yourself down and out of the psychoactive effects of THC. Here are a few options if you get too high 1. Take CBD! CBD reduces the effects of the psychoactive effects of THC. Smoke a CBD pre-roll or take a few hits from a vape pen to almost instantly feel your mind and body returning to a normal state of being. You will however still feel calm and relaxed, but the last time I checked those are the new American dream. 2. Eat some food! You know you are hungry anyway so eat something delicious like a bowl of yogurt with fresh fruit and a drizzle of CBD honey or indulge with a slice of pineapple and ham pizza. When your blood sugar rises as you eat food it could also lower the effects of THC. Just don't accidentally eat THC infused edibles! 3. Take a shower or a bath. Doing this while too high can relax you and offset tachycardia, that thing that your heart does sometimes that makes you think you are dying. If you have the time try soaking in a bath with a CBD bath bomb to lessen the psychoactive effects of THC while feeling at peace. 4. Exercise! Getting physical even just a short walk can help metabolize the THC faster and help decrease the effects of THC. Exercise also increases the endorphins in your brain, which will also help decrease the psychoactive effects of cannabis.

  • Is it Legal to Ship or Receive Cannabis?

It is legal to ship cannabis and edibles with proper licensing through the DEA and is limited to manufacturers, distributors, researchers, analytic labs, importers, and exporters. Chapter 13 Title 21 U.S.C. 822 explains the licensing registration process with the Attorney General. However, the Attorney General may waive registration for certain manufacturers, distributors, or dispensers if it is consistent with public health and safety. Can I get in Trouble for Shipping Edibles? Without the proper licensure shipping cannabis in any form, whether cannabis oil, cannabis edibles, or cannabis flower in the mail is a federal offense. For a person who does not have a criminal history getting caught shipping less than 110 pounds/50 kilograms will face up to 5 years of prison time and a fine of up to $250,000. A person caught shipping the same amount of cannabis with a criminal history faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000. The judge may also impose 2 years of probation in addition to imprisonment. Is it Safer to Ship Cannabis and Edibles through USPS, UPS, DHL, or FedEX? It is not safer to ship through any of the shipping services whether privately or publicly owned. If a package is caught by USPS, UPS, DHL, or FedEx the package will most likely be given to an investigator because they are then knowingly or intentionally distributing a controlled substance. What is the Statute of Limitations of Drug Distribution? If the package has made it to the delivery address without any issues, then most likely there hasn't been an investigation set in motion. An investigation will most likely take place on larger and more frequent mailing operations. Smaller operations are usually only targeted when there has been someone snitching. The statute of limitations for cannabis distribution is 5 years. Different drugs and circumstances involving death or minors the limitation period may be longer than 5 years. The laws are different for each circumstance and will need to be reviewed by the specific details. Is it a Crime to Receive Cannabis in the Mail? Yes, it is a crime to knowingly receive a package containing cannabis or cannabis edibles, especially if it is traced to someone you know or if you shipped them to yourself. It is possible that the package has made it through the mail system without being detected, but it is also a very real possibility that the package was detected and there is an ongoing investigation and the package is being watched under surveillance. This is unlikely if it is a small amount of cannabis. Until cannabis has been legalized on the federal level and across all 50 states, it is an incredibly bad idea to ship or receive cannabis or cannabis edibles. Until all 50 states and the federal government have set up their taxation rules, cannabis will remain illegal to ship.
