  • The Effects of CBD Oil

Photo by Pixabay Published January 12, 2019 Updated May 14, 2020 While CBD offers little to no psychoactive ingredients (this depends on the CBD you purchase and its THC content), it will still have an effect on you.  When taking low to moderate doses of CBD, it has proven to cause subtle mind and body changes which often cause feelings of alertness, energy, and decreased nausea.  While taking high doses of CBD may act as a sedative and have a more noticeable effect on your mind and body.  CBD has also shown to cause better moods and helping with anxiety issues but those effects don't cease there. Here are a number of ailments CBD can help your body maintain healthier function with: Antidepressant Anti-anxiety Anticonvulsant Antimicrobial Antioxidant Reduces inflammation nausea Relief from nausea pain stress Please be aware that the studies done to support this information has only been done in a laboratory setting and with animals (Stoner Strategies does not condone the use of animal testing).  When the time comes to extensively research the effect of CBD on the human body is when we will be able to provide a more accurate list of results.  The use of CBD has the ability to vary from person to person just like any other drug on the market.  What works for one person may not work for another.  Research still needs to be done to come to a more finite answer of how CBD can affect the human body.

  • How Can CBD Help Me or My Loved Ones?

Research has strongly suggested the use of CBD for stress relief and better mood disposition.  Animal testing (Stoner Strategies does not condone this) with CBD has proved to be helpful as an anti-anxiety medication and is even possibly useful in easing traumatic memories. Not only has CBD shown to be a quality medicine for inflammation but as well as an effective antimicrobial, analgesic, easing aches and pains option. While CBD provides benefits for basic health issues the compound itself is useful for those with serious health conditions.  Unfortunately with the prohibition laws and regulations studies have been very limited with the benefits of marijuana and its byproducts from hemp. However, Epidolex, a drug for treating two rare forms of epilepsy, Drawvet and Lennoc-Gastaut syndrome has been approved by the FDA. This drug is also being studied for its potential in helping with those suffering from psychosis and schizophrenia. In addition, Epidiolex is being studied alongside the THC compound as an add on treatment to improve the health of those with certain types of cancer.

  • The Science Behind CBD

Photo by Pixabay Published January 10, 2019 Updated May 13, 2020 The human body has this signaling system that is hardwired like your computer or internet to engage with the CBD medicinal effects. Modern science calls this system the endocannabinoid system (ECS).  If you read "ECS" from here on out, it is referring to the endocannabinoid system. ECS coordinates communication between the central nervous system (complex nerve tissue that controls the activities of the body; invertebrates it works out the brain and spinal cord) and the peripheral (lymph nodes, spleen, and tonsils) and visceral organs (heart, lungs, liver, pancreas, and intestines).  The ECS plays a strong role in the functions of the immune system, the body's response to injury and infections. Within the ECS are cell receptors (cannabinoid receptors) which are found on the surface of the nerve cells, immune system, and organs. The ECS nerve receptors are activated by the chemical messengers (endocannabinoids) which function from within the cell membrane. Enzymes within the ECS acts as a catalyst (breaks down), the chemical messengers. When the endocannabinoids lock into the cannabinoid receptors a chemical reaction occurs that causes physiological changes within the cell itself. The cell responds differently, possibly causing change to the messages the cell sends to its cellular environment. These changes could include electrical current, inflammation responses and so much more. When these endocannabinoids are no longer necessary the enzymes have the capacity to break down the chemical messengers to stop the effects it is having on its environment. ECS has been shown to have homeostasis (balance within the body) effects. Say you were to get off the couch and actually work out, the body will increase the level of endocannabinoids flowing throughout your body and will promote those euphoric feelings that cause you to have feelings of bliss, hunger, and pain relief. If the human body has inflammation caused by injury or disease, the immune cells will increase the number of cannabinoid receptors on the cells surface, therefore increasing the number of endocannabinoids for activation. In this particular situation, the inflammation is the cause of the increase in immune cells which try to create homeostasis by preparing themselves to accept the endocannabinoids. Based upon the available research regarding CBD and how it interacts with the endocannabinoid system, CBD blocks the enzyme's function of breaking down the endocannabinoid molecules. When the enzymes are unable to break these molecules down, the more endocannabinoids are present for the body's benefit. With the research available to us presently it turns out that the endocannabinoid system plays a strong role in the following: Growth in the form of Bones Fetal Regulation with Body temperature Mood Improvements with Memory Metabolism Movement Pain perception Pleasure Reproduction Sleep Stress Thought processes Research has been showing that the same receptors targeted by antidepressant drugs are also changed by CBD.  As well as reducing pain when engaged with capsaicin receptor that effects heat and pain receptors.

  • NASA vs Elon Musk

Photo by Pixabay Published January 08, 2019 Updated May 13, 2020 Apparently NASA does not approve of Elon Musks' video podcast with Joe Rogan which features him puffing away on a joint. According to NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine, the world will never get to watch Musk puff another joint or sip another drop of alcohol, publicly.  While Bridenstine admitted to The Atlantic's report that Elon Musk is committed to workplace safety for his employees and astronauts but claimed that Musk portraying himself as a real human being who is able to enjoy the greener things in life was inappropriate. Bridenstine took matters into his own hands and personally ordered a workplace culture and safety review of not only Musks SpaceX but Boeing as well.  NASA is working with both companies to provide passenger spacecraft to shuttle astronauts from America to the International Space Station, with test flights starting sometime in 2019. Combined the contracts are worth $6.8 billion and have stipulations that both companies are required to maintain a drug and alcohol-free workplace program.  This requirement was added to the contracts for an insurance measure to ensure that both companies would not be prone to accidents that would result in the deaths of astronauts caused by workplace safety, long hours, and stress. These concerns arose with Musk for NASA when Musk admitted to working long hours, hustling hard for his electric car company Tesla and his on-air marijuana use. Bridenstine informed reporters that the workplace culture and safety assessment was on his to-do list long before Musk burned on down with Joe Rogan at his California podcast studio, where recreational use marijuana is legal. This situation just prioritized the assessment. Bridenstine also stated that he is more concerned with cocaine and opiate use that would have serious impairment issues on SpaceX and Boeing employees. NASA is being proactive and using preventative measures before waiting for a serious disaster to occur by reviewing the workplace culture and safety procedures.

  • Joe Rogan and the Corporate Cannabis Monopolies

Photo by Pixabay Published January 07, 2019 Updated May 13, 2020 Joe Rogan is one of those people who reached a certain level of fame and had no qualms with voicing his option regardless of who he's going to piss off. If you're familiar with Joe Rogan then you most likely are away from his favorable opinions on marijuana legalization.  A few months back, Joe Rogan slammed the corporate monopolies who are trying to take over the marijuana industry in one of his podcasts a handful of months ago. On the podcast, Rogan and Joey Diaz conversed about marijuana legalization and Rogan expressed his worries over the corporations taking over the cannabis industry and taking the profitable opportunities away from the home growers.   He's on camera stating “so weed is gonna be legal, but only a couple of companies can grow it and monopolize," Rogan said. “That is such corruption, that’s like saying: you can have tomatoes, but we are the only ones that can grow these f*cking tomatoes. Like why? It’s a f*cking tomato! That’s a law against nature." If only Congress would tune in to some of the Joe Rogan Experience podcasts, maybe we wouldn't have to try so hard to convince them legalization is the right thing to do!

  • The Future Looks Green for 2019

Photo by Pixabay Published December 31, 2018 Updated May 13, 2020 Currently, in the USA there are 10 states, including Washington D.C., that have legalized recreational cannabis and 33 states with legalized medical marijuana.  These numbers are poised to reach new heights in 2019 due to the steady growth in public support of marijuana across the country from both marijuana supporters and lawmakers. Here is the list of states most likely to fully legalize recreational marijuana in 2019 thanks to the marijuana supporters who hit the polls and voted for pro-marijuana state lawmakers and governors. Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) took a logical stance for marijuana reform stating, "It's something I would support, and I don't want the black market controlling marijuana distribution in our state..." He reiterated his pro-marijuana stance again after his win on Election Day by pledging, during a transition press conference, that making progress on the issue will be one of his top priorities in 2019. Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) used marijuana legalization as the center of his campaign, this dude even went as far as to hold a press conference outside of a medical cannabis dispensary.  After his election win, he announced his intent to get the legalization moving as soon as possible. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) took the place of an anti-marijuana Democrat in this past election. He argued in favor of bringing in new tax revenue from the sales of marijuana as well as reducing the number of people incarcerated for drug-related offenses. The biggest hurdle Walz faces, in his plan of legalization, is the Democratic and Republican split in the Minnesota Legislature. New Jersey Elected in 2017 with a campaign focused on marijuana legalization, Gov. Phil Murphy (D), has continued to push for an end to prohibition in the state of New Jersey.  After some issues with lawmakers and governors over tax rates and regulations, the Senate and Assembly Committees have approved the marijuana legalization legislation last month.  The new year should bring some momentum behind it, ending marijuana prohibition in New Jersey. New Mexico With the Election Day win for ‎Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) as New Mexico's next governor, the legalization of recreational marijuana will most likely pass if the bill makes it to the floor. Grisham supported marijuana legalization as a member of Congress and during a political debate for the governor seat she was quoted that legalization would bring “hundreds of millions of dollars to New Mexico’s economy." New York One time enemy to marijuana legalization, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) will legalize recreational marijuana in New York in a few short months. Governor Cuomo has created a task force whose only responsibility is to create cannabis legislation for lawmaker consideration in 2019.  He has also directed the Health Department to study the effects of marijuana legalization; the result report showed that the positive effects greatly outweigh the potential negative effects of cannabis prohibition. Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo (D) has previously proposed expanding the number of licensed medical marijuana shops, however, the legislature increased the fee medical marijuana dispensaries are required to pay.  Due to the legalization from Massachusetts and the strong chance of legalization in Connecticut this year, Gov Raimondo has suggested, "remaining open" to changes in Rhode Island marijuana laws. Vermont In 2018, Gov. Phil Scott (R) and Vermont lawmakers legalized the possession of marijuana, as well as small home grows.  The lawmakers did not allow for any form of commercial cultivation and sales which does not allow for Vermont to receive any marijuana tax revenue or allows for any state cultivation regulations.  The state Senate has already approved marijuana sales legislation and the House seems to be more likely to pass the legislation as well.  However, Gov. Scott is still reluctant to sign any further legislation regarding the legalization of marijuana until there is a system in place to detect driving under the influence of marijuana so it remains unclear if he would veto a legalization bill or if lawmakers can gather enough support to override his decision. Legalization Progress in Other States While the above states seem ready to go fully into legalization this year, the following states are putting themselves into position for other cannabis related legislation this coming new year or have intention to have marijuana reform of some kind on their 2020 ballot votes. Arizona Arizona will likely be backed into a corner due to their pot friendly neighboring states, California and New Mexico, forcing them to expand their medical marijuana regulations into recreational legislation over the next 5 years. Florida Newly elected Gov. Ron DeSantis does not support recreational use marijuana, though he does have plans to expand the restrictive regulations regarding medical use marijuana. Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly (D) supports legalizing medicinal marijuana, which would allow patients to use marijuana with a doctor recommendation. Mississippi In 2014, state Legislators made a very small exception in the state law allowing for a study of cannabidiol, which has claims of being able to reduce seizures in children. The study was faced with the obstacle of getting approval from the federal government for the last 4 years.  The study will be done at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and will last for 6 months.  Advocates are pushing for a 2020 referendum on Mississippi ballots. Nebraska With Nebraska's surrounding states passing medical marijuana, advocates are pushing for a measure to be presented on the 2020 ballot, as well as having medicinal marijuana written into the State Constitution. North Dakota The voters of North Dakota rejected the Measure 3, a ballot that proposed recreational marijuana legislation this past Election Day.  The voters rejected the initiative that would have set no limit on the amount of marijuana a person could cultivate or possess, a system of legal marijuana production and sales, included no rules and regulations.  They did this so that lawmakers could have full control over the taxes and regulations over the marijuana market.  The ballot would have also expunged convictions for marijuana convictions. Ohio While Ohio has passed medical marijuana legislation there are many issues surrounding the marijuana regulations. It's said that in 2019 the Ohio state lawmakers will revisit the driving under the influence laws regarding marijuana levels in a medical marijuana users blood and urine. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf (D), supports the decriminalization of cannabis possession in 2019. He also intends on taking a deeper look into recreational cannabis use legislation. South Carolina Senator Greg Hembree has filed a bill asking the federal government to remove the restrictions to conduct research on the medicinal benefits of cannabis.  Medical cannabis will also be on the table for South Carolina lawmakers when they return for the 2019 legislative session. South Dakota A proposed initiated measure is likely to be on the 2020 ballot which would allow those over the age of 21 to grow, possess, and use marijuana.  Those under the age of 21 would be permitted to use marijuana with permission from a doctor. The petition must have signatures from 5% of the states registered voters. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) is considering some form of marijuana decriminalization as well as the legalization of medical marijuana. Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers (D) has suggested the decriminalization of marijuana as well as allowing for medical marijuana.  He also supports allowing voters to vote on a recreational use referendum. Like a burning fire going across the entire country lawmakers are coming to the realization that legalization is necessary.  These lawmakers are becoming more aware of the many benefits of ending prohibition.  Whether the lawmakers reasons be to decrease the black market and organized crime, to protect our Constitutional liberties to safe and effective health care, improve community and police relations, for the betterment of national security, to decrease the welfare system through expunging records of those with marijuana charges who are currently unable to find sustainable employment, to help reduce racial justice, for the benefit of the tax revenues or for the absurdity behind the reasons why marijuana is illegal. The lawmakers are listening to the people and the people have been speaking loud and clear to end the ineffective war on marijuana.

  • Cannabis Deviled Egg Salad

Ever make yourself sick from your insatiable desire to devour an entire plate of deviled eggs? Do you hate the somewhat tedious deviled egg process? Perhaps you fucked the egg whites up when peeling the shells, leaving the whites destroyed and broken, making them unusable for traditional deviled eggs.  I've found myself in all of these deviled egg dilemmas quite often, so I came up with this deviled egg salad recipe that can also be spread on bread slices, sliced fresh veggies, or for some tasty sandwiches. Serves 4 Prep Time: 10 minutes Ingredients: 8 hard-boiled eggs, coarsely chopped 1-1/3 cups cannamayo 2 tablespoons dijon mustard 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon pepper 1 teaspoon paprika Directions: In a medium bowl, add all ingredients.  Mix well. Refrigerate for an hour before serving Serve with your favorite crackers or sliced crusty bread. Recipe Notes: Cover and refrigerate any leftover egg mixture for up to 3 days. Substitute onion powder with fresh chives.

  • Weed Wine Recipe

Weed wine has been around for quite some time with a few variations on the preparation method. In my opinion, this method is the easiest of them all. You can find it already prepared in some dispensaries but who doesn't love to make their own cannabis-infused kitchen concoctions.  Substitute the cannabis flower with hemp flower to create CBD infused wine instead! Prep Time: 5 minutes Sit Time: 3-14 days Ingredients: 1-ounce cannabis flower, decarbed - learn the decarb process here 1 cup of dry red or dry white wine Directions: Make cannabis tea bags with cheesecloth by twisting the wrapped cannabis and tying the cheesecloth in a knot. Pour the wine into a mason jar and add the cannabis tea bags and twist on the airtight lid. Chill the wine in the fridge for at least 3 days to allow the alcohol to extract the THC out of the cannabis buds. Gently shake or stir the bottle of wine every few hours every day to maximize the potency of the cannawine. After the wine has sat for at least 3 days remove the cannabis tea bags. Wring out the excess liquid from the tea bags to increase potency and store the used teabags for your next cup of hot tea or sangria. Enjoy your homemade cannabis-infused wine and remember to use caution when ingesting mixing alcohol with THC.   Always keep away from children.

  • How Well Do You Know Your Dabs?

Published Ahhh dabs, that beautifully THC concentrated lung filling delightful substance that most stoners have grown to love over the last few years.  We've learned how to smoke it but do you know how to distinguish between the different types of concentrates out in the market?  Most stoners would describe their dabs as sticky but are you aware of crumble or the hard shatters?  Can you identify the sticky saps from the drippy oils? Alcohol Hash Oil The easiest at home hash oil extraction method is made from the cannabis flower that is mixed with a strong alcohol like Everclear or an isopropyl alcohol.  It is debated whether the cannabis should be decarboxylated or not before being mixed with the alcohol.  Once the plant material is strained and the alcohol is evaporated you are left with hash oil.  The potency is greater than if you smoked the cannabis flower alone and varies with the cannabis flower THC levels that you started out with.  This is a great method if you got stuck with shitty weed.  Store your hash oil in a silicone dab container and keep in a cool dark place. BHO Butane Hash Oil is made from when the THC is extracted from the cannabis plant using butane as the extraction solvent. Butane is thicker compared to the CO2  and is easier to use with a dab rig than the more liquid CO2 option. Whether you choose to use the BHO or CO2 oil storage is best in a silicone dab container that is stored in a cool dark place. Budder Budder was created back in the 90's by the "BudderKing" and some of his friends in Vancouver that started by leaving some shatter in a window (another reason I love my neighbors to the north!).  When Shatter is exposed to heat and breaks down it turns into the concentrated budder form transforming the shatter into a peanut butter consistency.  Budder that has more of a lighter golden color is generally more potent.  If your budder is too liquid toss it in the freezer for a few minutes to make it easier to work with in a more solidified state.  Store your budder in an airtight glass jar or silicone dab container and keep it in a cool dry place. CO2 Oil Oil that is made using a method called supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) extracts the THC from the cannabis by using the strange properties of gases that have been compressed beyond their critical point.  CO2 is best used for this method due to it reaching its critical point at 90 degrees.  The low temperature is great because it does not denature the terpenes and cannabinoids.  CO2 oil is more liquid in its consistency and will usually come in a syringe and is best if used in a vape pen.  Cannabis oils made with CO2 are generally more flavorful and has the benefits of having no dangerous chemicals used in the extraction process.  Store your CO2 oil in a syringe or a silicone dab container in a cool dark place. Crumble Crumble is the least sticky of all the concentrates and you should be able to handle the crumble dabs by hand when breaking into the desired amount of dabs for your smoke sesh.  Avoid parchment paper to store these dabs and opt for the silicone or an airtight glass container and keep in a cool dry place. Try to avoid using parchment paper and instead keep your crumble in a silicone or glass container with a lid. Shatter Shatter is a less sticky and more manageable type of concentrate out in the concentrate market.  The slightly sticky glass like dab lives up to its name if dropped being more likely to actually shatter than to melt into our carpet.   The quality of your shatter can be easily identified when you hold your shatter up to the light.  If you can see through your shatter with minimal swirls or blotches of color your shatter was purged well.  If you see lots of discoloration it means your shatter was not purged properly and you have a lower quality with a higher chemical contamination.  You can store your shatter in some parchment paper or even better a silicone dab container.  When smoking shatter you can easily drop a piece of it using your fingers or use a dab tool to place the shatter on the dab nail. THCa Crystalline THCa Crystalline is the holy grail of cannabis extracts with a godly purity of 99.96%, if made correctly.  THCa Crystalline starts out as an oil and is chemically fucked with to create the crystalline form.  These chemicals are purged during the process so you are getting that crazy purity level without all of the nasty chemicals. Wax Wax is some serious sticky icky cannabis extract that should never be handled with anything but a clean dab tool.   If you think using your hands to handle your wax is a good idea be prepared to waste a whole lot of your precious wax and have an expensive sticky mess.  Avoid storing your wax dabs in a plastic jar.  Storing wax is best in a silicone container with a lid or wrapped well in some parchment paper and placed in a ziploc plastic bag.

  • How to Use a Nectar Collector in 5 Simple Steps

Nectar Collectors provide dabbing on the go with their easy to transport straw-like design.  Unlike your honey bucket or standard dab nail that requires dropping your dab on the hot nail, the heated quartz or titanium tip of the nectar collector is applied into the concentrate from a glass dish. When preparing your dab spread your desired amount of concentrate into the glass dish. Next heat the tip of your nectar collector as with any of your other dab nails to your desired temperature. Using a hot quartz or titanium tip, tap into the concentrates in the glass dish. As you suck in the hit of concentrate through the nectar collector it will percolate through the water chamber, cooling the smoke for a smooth smoking experience. Exhale and store your nectar collector in a safe place.

  • Things to Consider Before Purchasing a New Downstem

Published June 05, 2018 Last Edited: May 12, 2020 A downstem is a long straight tube glass piece that sits in the bong's joint, usually extending at a slight angle into the main chamber of your smoking piece. Most downstems feature slits or holes allowing for extra filtration and an even cooler hit. Most pipes come with a removable downstem, while others are usually held in place by a rubber grommet. Tanacetum accessories & replacements are available in a wide variety of shapes & sizes, so it’s important to consider how your replacement downstem will fit in your pipe before completing your purchase. Stoner Strategies follows the industry standard when measuring our downstems.  As with any head shop we measure joint size as well as the downstem length.  Downstem length is measured from past the ground joint & the diffusion tip of the downstem.  Correct measurements are essential as you do not want the end of the stem hitting the base of your pipe causing possible damage to both your pipe and downstem. Downstems are exclusive to pipes with female joints due to the fact that the downstem sits within the joint.  Another measurement to consider when purchasing a new downstem is the joint size.  Joints  come in three major sizes: 10mm (not as common as the 14mm & 19mm options), 14.5mm (sometimes advertised as 14mm) and 18.8mm (sometimes advertised as 19mm). Finally, you will need to measure the length of the downstem simply by measuring your old downstem with a ruler.  If your downstem is broken or if you are buying a downstem to upgrade from a different adapter or attachment you can insert a pencil where you would put your downstem while making sure the pencil does not hit the bottom base, marking the pencil & measuring the pencil to the notch you've made. Firecut downstems clog easily but are superior in preserving flavor.  The classic & most common design for the downstem features slits at the filtration end allowing for a tried & true diffusion method.  Shop the downstem collection today at Stoner Strategies & experience something new!

  • Michigan's Pilot Saliva Swab Drug Testing Program Controversy

Photo by Pixabay Published November 07, 2017 Updated May 13, 2020 Michigan Police will begin a one-year pilot program on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, using handheld devices to drug test driver's saliva who are suspected of operating a motor vehicle while being under the influence of illicit substances.  12 Michigan agencies within 5 Michigan counties will take part in the program, Berrien, Delta, Kent, St. Clair & Washtenaw.  The pilot program will cost the Michigan State Police and the citizens of Michigan roughly $30,000, including $6,000 apiece for the Alere DDS2 Monitors & $25 for each roadside kit according to the House Fiscal Agency. The device, Alere DDS2 Mobile Test System, will be used as a roadside test that will be carried out by a total of 26 Drug Recognition Experts (DREs) who have received advanced training in assessing drug and alcohol impairment.  Alere claims the DDS2 Mobile Test System will provide an optimal combination of speed, ease of use, reliability & accuracy for those on the police force, drug treatment centers, and in the workplace. The device is said to be capable of testing for amphetamine, benzothiazines, cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamines, and opiates so long as the driver has enough saliva to complete the testing.  If the driver refuses the test, it will result in a civil infraction much like those who refuse an alcohol breathalyzer test.  These tests will not be administered at roadblocks or at DUI Checkpoints due to pre-existing laws in Michigan making it illegal to do so. Currently, Alere is in a medical lawsuit for their product line, Alere Monitoring System.  Consumers on blood thinners filed suit against the company because their Alere INRatio2 devices were not providing accurate readings of their blood clotting ability.  The consumers of this product chose to do their testing at home instead of in the lab by using their Alere InRatio2, INRatio2 PT/INR Monitor System, or INRatio Test Strips to monitor their International Normalized Ratio (INR) while undergoing anticoagulation therapy.  After several deaths, the product has been recalled and there are allegations against Alere claiming the manufacture had known the product was faulty and Alere failed to inform the United States government, healthcare providers, and the general public within a reasonable amount of time.  Alere is attempting to withdraw the lawsuit. Michigan State Police spokesperson F/Lt. Mike Shaw stated that after the pilot program the state police have 90 days to file a report to Michigan State Legislature regarding the outcome of the program.  After the report is reviewed by Michigan lawmakers, it will then be decided if the pilot program is expanded into other counties, statewide or if they should toss out the entire program. Using a company such as Alere, who has a lawsuit against them for false-positive readings, would make one question the validity of the final report from the Michigan State Police to the Michigan lawmakers and the general public.   As well as the safety of the innocent citizens of Michigan or those passing through who may come across another one of Alere's false positive readings costing them thousands in court fees, potentially their freedom and/or families all while wasting taxpayers money on imprisoning or prosecuting innocent victims of Alere products.

  • A Quick Understanding of Dab Oil

Dab oil is a blanket term for the different types of oils available in the market today.  Some of these dab oils are some of the purest concentrates with high THC levels while others that are used for medicinal purposes are lacking all of the psychoactive properties.  Here you'll get a quick lesson on 3 of the most basic types of dab oils, how they are made, and how they could affect you. Rick Simpson Oil The easiest at home hash oil extraction method is made from the cannabis flower that is mixed with strong alcohol like Everclear or isopropyl alcohol.  Rick Simpson made this method famous back in 2003 stating on his website phoenixtears.ca, "cure or control cancer, MS, pain, diabetes, arthritis, asthma, infections, inflammation, blood pressure, depression, sleeping problems and just about any other medical issues that one can imagine." It’s debated whether cannabis should be decarboxylated or not before being mixed with the alcohol.  Once the plant material is strained, and the alcohol is evaporated, you are left with hash oil.  The potency is greater than if you smoked the cannabis flower alone and varies with the cannabis flower THC levels you started out with.  This is a great method if you got stuck with shitty weed.  Store your hash oil in a silicone dab container and keep in a cool dark place. BHO Butane Hash Oil also called honey oil is made when THC is extracted from the cannabis plant using butane as the extraction solvent. When making BHO make sure you are preparing it in a well-ventilated area free from any sparks or flames as butane is extremely flammable and contains hazardous fumes. BHO is amber in color and is quite sticky. It is highly recommended that you use a stainless steel, glass, or silicone dab tool to handle your BHO otherwise you'll end up wasting a lot of your precious oil when handling it with your hands.  Store honey oil in a silicone dab container in a cool dark place. CO2 Concentrates that are made using a method called supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) extracts the THC from the cannabis by using the strange properties of gases that have been compressed beyond their critical point.  CO2 is best used for this method due to it reaching its critical point at 90 degrees.  The low temperature is great because it does not denature the terpenes and cannabinoids making this type of concentrate is one of the strongest in the market. CO2 oil is more liquid in its consistency and will usually come in a syringe and is best if used in a vape pen.  Cannabis oils made with CO2 are generally more flavorful and has the benefits of having no dangerous chemicals used in the extraction process.  Because the scientists who create the CO2 oil are able to hone in on particular components of the cannabis plant they are able to increase or remove the THC from the oil.  This is a great option for medical patients who are seeking the pain-relieving benefits of marijuana without the psychoactive effects.  Store your CO2 oil in a syringe or a silicone dab container in a cool dark place.

  • Cannabis Churros Recipe

Image by binaryscalper from Pixabay October 26, 2017 Updated May 13, 2020 There's a ton of cannabis churro recipes out there but the ones I've come across expect you to bake instead of fry the churro dough.  For me, that just won't work so I came up with a recipe that covered the fried churros in cannabis sugar!  Whip up a batch of our cannabis chocolate ganache for extra potency! Prep Time: 10 minutes Serves 6 Skill Level: Easy Ingredients: 1 cup cannabis sugar 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1 cup whole milk 1/4 cup butter 2 teaspoons sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup all-purpose flour 4 large eggs 3 cups oil 1/3 cup cannabis chocolate ganache, optional Directions: Mix together cinnamon and cannabis sugar in a small bowl and set aside. In a heavy medium saucepan add the milk, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil stirring until the sugar dissolves and the butter melts. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the flour stirring vigorously for about 1 minute until a shiny dough mass forms. Transfer to a large bowl and allow to cool for 5 minutes. Combine the cannabutter, brown, and white sugar. Add the room temperature eggs one at a time to the butter-sugar blend. Add the vanilla, honey, and cinnamon and mix until combined well. In a large bowl add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Simultaneously add the flour and milk mixtures to the egg mixture stirring until combined. (Do not over mix). Fold in the mashed bananas until blended well. Pour the batter into the pan. Reduce heat to 300F. Bake for 60 – 70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean (do not overbake). Remove from oven and allow to cool. Generously apply the icing to the cooled cake. Lemon Ginger Cream Cheese Icing Ingredients: 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature 1/3 cup cannabutter, softened 3 cups powdered sugar, a little more or a little less 1 teaspoon ginger 1 tablespoon honey 1 teaspoon lemon juice 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon zest (from 1 lemon) Directions: Blend the cannabutter and cream cheese until fluffy. Add ginger, honey, vanilla, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Add powdered sugar a little at a time until you reach desired consistency. Spread over cooled cake Recipe Notes: When dosing it is strongly suggested that you start off a small dosage. Use this test dose to decide if you should ingest more or less. Substituting milk alone or cream is not suggested for the milk and lemon juice mixture.  If a substitute is needed we suggest buttermilk. It is strongly suggested to allow the cannasugar to air-dry overnight, loosely covered on a baking sheet. Remove from the oven and allow to cool. • Cannabis Infused Alcohol

Photo by Pixabay Published October 24, 2017 Updated May 14, 2020 Cannabis can be infused into any alcohol, the higher the proof the better. If you use everclear then you will have a versatile cannabis tincture.  Store in a cool dark place for optimal potency. Prep Time: Up to 14 days Skill Level: Easy Ingredients: 1 ounce of ground decarbed cannabis or 6 to 8 grams of decarbed hash  (learn the decarb process here.) 1 cup strong alcohol Directions: Place the decarbed cannabis into a 1-quart jar and add 2 cups of alcohol. Seal the jar tight and shake well and place in the freezer. Shake the jar at least 3 times a day for 7 to 14 days, depending on the proof of your alcohol (100 proof = 1 week, 40 to 80 proof = 10 days). Place the cheesecloth over the strainer and set it in the mixing bowl. While wearing latex gloves, filter the contents of the mason jar into the bowl. Squeeze the mixture through the cloth, pushing it against the strainer to release more liquid into the bowl. Filter it for a second time. Pour the liquid into a mason jar through a coffee filter lined funnel. It should take half an hour to drain. Using the measuring cup, pour the tincture into the bottles. Be careful not to fill them too full. Store in the freezer, away from flame and children. Recipe Tips: Dosage: 5 to 10 drops under the tongue (leave it for thirty seconds). It may burn ever so slightly, but the sensation will fade quickly. It may take up to an hour to feel the effects. It is strongly suggested that you start with a small dosage to see how your cannabis-infused alcohol effects you.
