  • How to Decarboxylate Cannabis - Activate THC Decarb Cannabis

The decarboxylation aka (decarb) of cannabis is the process of activating the cannabinoids that include THC and other marijuana byproducts through the process of removing the carbon atoms from cannabis. In laments terms, you need to heat the cannabis to active its potency.  Once your buds are decarbed they are ready for extracting into butter, oil, or alcohol. It’s important to note that you do not want to let your buds bake over 220F.  If temperatures reach over 230F/110F, then the THC will denature into CBN making the cannabis less psychoactive and it will also cause sleepiness. Kitchen Tools: Oven Sharp Grinder An Oven Safe Dish Aluminum Foil Ingredients: 1 oz of cannabis Directions: Start by preheating your oven to 220F/110C. Due to variances that occur overtime to even the nicest of ovens please make sure to use a new or newer oven thermometer to ensure you are not exceeding 220F/110C. Next, grind the cannabis to the consistency of how you would grind your weed for a blunt or joint. You do not want the cannabis to be too fine or too coarse. Spread the cannabis evenly onto an oven-safe dish. Seal tightly with the aluminum foil. Bake in the oven for 40 minutes at 220F. *Please Note: the 40 minute bake time is based on using 1 single ounce of cannabis, if you are using 2 ounces of cannabis you will need to bake it for approximately 1 hour 20 minutes. If you are using CBD hemp flower click here to learn how to decarboxylate CBD! Cannabis Decarboxylation Equation 40 Minutes x Ounces of Cannabis Flower = Bake Time Once the cannabis has finished baking, allow the oven dish to cool down completely BEFORE removing the oven. Enjoy!

  • Cannabis Butter - Stove Top CannaButter Edibles Recipe

This recipe is the one I followed my first time making cannabutter.  I prefer the crockpot method, but this recipe will do if you do not have a crockpot.  2 ounces decarboxylated leaves, stems or trim or 4 ounces pre-vaped cannabis can be substituted for the one-ounce cannabis buds. Prep Time: 30 minutes Cook Time: 5 Hours Difficulty: Easy Kitchen Tools: Large saucepan or pot Whisk Large glass bowl or storage container Cheesecloth Plastic Wrap Rubber Bands Ingredients: 1 ounce decarboxylated and coarsely ground cannabis 1 pound or 4 sticks butter (unsalted is best for baking) 2 cups of water Directions: Chop butter into cubes and place into a large saucepan with 2 cups water and bring to a rolling simmer just before it boiling over medium heat until butter is completely melted occasionally stirring to allow the butter to melt more quickly. Once the butter has melted, add the ground cannabis, and reduce the heat to low.  Bring the cannabutter to a bare simmer. Do not allow the cannabutter to boil! The cannabutter should have a little movement with a bubble here and there. Leave the cannabutter on a slow simmer for 5 hours, stirring every so often. Double fold the cheesecloth and place inside the large bowl or storage container holding the cheesecloth in place with rubber bands. Pour the cannabutter over the cheesecloth into the bowl or storage container filtering out the cannabis plant material from the butter. Remove the cheesecloth from the bowl and squeeze the butter from the rest of the cannabis plant material. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate.  I suggest letting the cannabutter refrigerate overnight. Once the butter has solidified, pour off the excess water and remove the cannabutter from the bowl and into a lidded glass jar for proper storage. The cannabutter is now ready for use in any recipe using butter or even just on a slice of toast!

  • How to Decarb Concentrates

Concentrates can be used just as cannabis flowers would in the oil, butter, and tincture recipes.  This is a great method for getting your edibles fix without a strong cannabis flavor.  You do not need to decarb certain concentrates like RSO, distillates, or any other concentrate that has been exposed to temperatures of about 220F/110C during the extraction process for an extended amount of time. Kitchen Tools Required: An oven thermometer Oven Silicone mat or wax paper Oven safe dish Aluminum foil Ingredients: 1 gram concentrates Directions: Start by preheating the oven to 220F. Due to variances that occur overtime to even the nicest of ovens please make sure to use a new or newer oven thermometer to ensure the baking temperature does not exceed 220F as this will kill the potency. Put the silicone mat in an oven-safe dish. Spread the concentrates on the silicone baking mat. Please be mindful when doing this as the concentrate will thin out and expand, possibly causing the wax to ooze off the mat. Cover with aluminum foil and place in the oven for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, turn the oven off and allow the concentrates to completely cool in the oven. Place the cooled concentrate into the freezer for 10 minutes so you can easily remove the concentrates from the silicone mat. The concentrate is now fully decarboxylated, or “activated” and ready to be ingested or used in recipes.

  • Concentrate Infused Butter and Oil - CannaButter or Cannaoil Concentrate Edibles Recipe

Concentrate infused butter, oil, and tinctures have a more subtle cannabis flavor that won’t overpower the flavors of your kitchen creations. Concentrate infused butter and oils are usually stronger than your typical cannabis flower infusions.  Use with caution. Cooking Tools: Small saucepan or pot Whisk Small glass bowl or storage container with an air-tight lid Ingredients: 1-gram concentrates, decarbed 1 cup butter or coconut oil Directions: Heat your coconut oil over low heat until completely melted. Add the decarbed concentrates, stirring until completely dissolved. Do not allow to bubble, this will decrease the potency. Once the concentrates have been completely dissolved remove from heat and pour into a clean glass jar with an air-tight lid. Important Information: Storage Tip: Wrap your concentrate butter or oil in an airtight container and keep it in the fridge for a few weeks or in the freezer for up to 6 months. When dosing it is strongly suggested that you start off with a very small serving so you can see what your base high will be like and to make an informed decision on if you should lower or up your dosage. Use with caution! Never allow your concentrated butter/oil to exceed medium-low heat as it will degrade the THC due to high heat killing the potency. You can use salted butter, but unsalted butter is strongly suggested, particularly if you are using the concentrate infused butter for baking.

  • Easy Cannaoil - Cannabis Infused Oil Edibles Recipe

This recipe is essential for any edible's lover. Use a high-quality non-GMO, coconut, sunflower, or olive oil will make your cannoli all that more healthy.  If you are making this cannaoil recipe for medicinal reasons, coconut oil is strongly advised. While I do not suggest using canola oil, it will still absorb the THC. Kitchen Tools: Large saucepan or pot Whisk Glass jar with lid Cheesecloth Ingredients: 1 ounce/28g decarboxylated ground cannabis or 2 ounces decarboxylated leaves, stems or trim or 4 ounces ABV (already been vaped) 1 cup oil (coconut, olive, grapeseed, or sunflower) Directions: In a large saucepan over low heat, warm the oil. Stir in the cannabis. Allow the cannaoil to barely simmer for 3 hours while stirring every 30 minutes. Double fold the cheesecloth and place it inside the storage container.  Hold the cheesecloth in place with rubber bands if necessary. Pour the cannaoil over the cheesecloth into the storage container, filtering the cannabis plant material from the cannaoil. Remove the cheesecloth and squeeze the cannaoil from the rest of the cannabis plant material. Transfer the cannaoil into a glass jar with a lid. Recipe Notes: When dosing it is strongly suggested that you start off with one teaspoon cannaoil or cannabutter so you can get a feel for what your base high will be like. Use this test dose to decide if you should ingest more than 1 teaspoon at a time. Never allow your cannabis butter to exceed low to medium heat as the THC will degrade due to high heat killing your cannaoil potency. Keep the cannaoil in an airtight glass jar with a lid in a cool dark place for up to 6 months.

  • Cannabis Double Bacon Cheese Burger Recipe

Sometimes we need to clog our arteries with a thick greasy bacon cheeseburger, but at least you can feel a little better about downing these delectable burgers because cannabis has so many medicinal properties, right? Prep Time: 20 minutes Cook Time: 35 minutes Serves 6 Ingredients: 9 slices thick-cut bacon 2 pounds 80% ground chuck beef Salt and pepper, to taste 1 yellow onion, sliced 3 tablespoons cannabutter, divided 6 brioche or another favorite type of bun 6 American cheese slices Sliced tomato, pickles, and lettuce ¼ cup mayonnaise ¼ cup ketchup 1 tablespoon BBQ sauce, optional Directions: In a large skillet cook the bacon over medium-high heat, turning once or twice until half-way cooked. Form the meat into patties about ¾-inch thick and press your thumb into the center of the patty to form a dimple to keep it from doming when cooked. Place in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes, or make ahead and refrigerate overnight. Prepare and preheat the grill to high. Reheat the reserved bacon renderings over medium heat. Add onions and sauté for 5 minutes. Lower the heat to medium-low. Add 1 tablespoon of cannabutter and season with salt & pepper. Cook for an additional 10 minutes or until the onions are soft and caramelized. Lower the heat to a simmer to keep warm or remove from the heat and cover with a lid. Spread the remaining cannabutter on the cut side of the buns and set aside. When the grill is hot (450°F) place the burgers on the grates and cook for 4 minutes then flip the burgers and cook for another 5 minutes or until the internal temperature is 135°F for a medium cooked hamburger. Add a slice of the American cheese to each burger and cook just until the cheese has melted. Transfer to a platter and let rest for about 5 minutes while you lightly toast the buns on the grill grates. Spread the mayonnaise and if you’d like a bit of BBQ sauce on the bottom and tops of the buns with the cheeseburgers, add the bacon and garnish with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and the caramelized onion.

  • How to Choose the Right Grinder

Herb grinders are an essential tool when it comes to smoking cannabis especially if you're a blunt or joint enthusiast.  They shred your sweet cannabis or CBD buds into a manageable size that will make your bowl burn evenly, therefore, preventing you from torching the cannabis and won't cause your pipe to clog as often. Grinders are available in many sizes such as the super portable mini grinder or an extra-large grinder, the diameter of the grinder is how the size of your grinder is determined.  Need a portable grinder for your next hike in the woods? A mini grinder would be perfect for you!  Like having smoke sessions at home with a bunch of your friends?  Then maybe the extra-large grinder would better suit your needs.  Having a grinder is a great investment, as well as for a more enjoyable smoking experience. An important factor to consider before purchasing a grinder is the material it is created from.  The most common type of grinder is made from metal, with acrylic and wood as other varieties.  Generally, wood and acrylic grinders are cheaper but are not nearly as durable as the metal grinders which are usually made from aluminum. Herb grinders are available containing different parts, the most common are 2-part, 3-part, or 4-part grinders.  The 2-part grinder is the most basic of them all coming with a lid and a tooth grinding part.  3-part grinders come with a lid, a tooth grinding layer, and a chamber.  The benefits of a 3-part grinder allow for the convenience of not having your sticky icky cannabis buds getting stuck in the teeth of the grinding layer.  The 4-part grinder contains everything within the 3-part grinder but contains a special compartment for your magical keif.  A 4-part grinder will have a larger height when compared with a 2 part or 3-part grinder due to the increased layers. Whether you are purchasing your first grinder or are in need of a fresh new grinder you can now buy with confidence.  Just be sure to carefully consider the information provided before making your next grinder purchase.

  • 3 Ways to Store Your Dabs

If you are storing your dabs improperly you are dulling down that amazing flavor and killing the potency.  Follows these tips and learn how to store your dabs for months while protecting the flavor and potency! To store your dabs it's always a good idea to protect your dabs the best you can from light, air, moisture, and heat especially if you planning on storing the dabs for an extended period of time. Follow the following advice to further protect your stash of legal dabs. Always Use The Appropriate Storage Container Glass Jar While glass is king when storing your cannabis this is not the same for some types of dabs.  Glass will cause the stickier concentrates to stick to the glass, which is great for nectar collector use but not so great for storing your shatter concentrate stash for the long haul.   Glass is great for your live resin and budder concentrates which are far less sticky than shatter or wax.  For long term storage, it's important to use glass jars that can be vacuum sealed and stored in a cool dark place. Silicone Jar A silicone dab container is one of the most versatile containers for storing your cannabis concentrates allowing you to easily get any type of concentrate in and out of the container whether it's sticky icky wax or a less sticky type such as the budder.  However, it is important to note that silicone is not great for long term storage and you shouldn't keep your dabs in silicone for more than a week.  You also want to make sure the silicone dab container you purchase or are currently using is made of high-quality medical-grade silicone for sanitation and contamination reasons. Parchment Paper Parchment paper is great for making at home dabs using the rosin technique and can be used for short term storage for the stickier dabs like wax and your homemade rosin.  When using parchment paper to store your dabs it is important to make sure you are using a large enough piece of parchment paper to fold your dabs into enough to keep from contamination from the outside world like dog hair or dust particles. For short term storage keep your tightly folded dabs in a cool dark place.  For storing your dabs for a few weeks place your parchment paper folded dabs in an airtight container away from light and air.  For extended storage place, your parchment paper wrapped dabs in an airtight container and place in the freezer.  When freezing remove from the freezer and allow the dabs to reach room temperature before cutting the seal, doing this before it reaches room temperature could cause condensation build up in the container contaminating the dabs.  When using parchment paper to store your dabs it is important to note that dabs such as the oils which have a more liquid consistency should not be stored using this method and should be kept in a container.  If you want to store crumble it should also be mentioned that the use of parchment paper is not a good option as it may become flattened, this should be stored in an airtight container. Overview on Storing Extracts Properly Consider yourself a little more educated on proper extract storage, now it's time to put what you know into action and efficiently store your dabs.  Don't forget to keep in mind how long you'll be storing your concentrates for, how much you have to store, and the type of dab you're storing.  Silicone is great for short term storage, parchment is great for long-term storage (especially if you freeze it) and glass jars are great for the oleoresins and oils. To store your stash for about a week a cabinet or drawer at room temperature will work just fine but keep in mind over time your extracts will be exposed to the contamination that can cause loss of flavor, smell, potency, and weight.  Something nobody wants to experience. For long term storage of your extracts follow the above-mentioned tips to keep your dabs full of flavor, smell, potency, and weight with an airtight container and a vacuum sealer.  (You can find vacuum sealers really cheap at your local Salvation Army, Good Will, flea market, or garage sale.) Good luck with your dab storage!

  • Things to Consider Before Purchasing a New Downstem

Photo by Pixabay Published June 05, 2017 Updated May 14, 2020 A downstem is a long straight tube glass piece that sits in your pipe’s joint usually extending at a slight angle into the main chamber of your smoking piece.  Most downstems feature slits or holes allowing for extra filtration and an even cooler hit.  Most pipes come with a removable downstem, while others are usually held in place by a rubber grommet.  Downstem accessories & replacements are available in a wide variety of shapes & sizes, so it’s important to consider how your replacement downstem will fit in your pipe before completing your purchase. Stoner Strategies follows the industry standard when measuring our downstems.  As with any head shop we measure joint size as well as the downstem length.  Downstem length is measured from past the ground joint & the diffusion tip of the downstem.  Correct measurements are essential as you do not want the end of the stem hitting the base of your pipe causing possible damage to both your pipe and downstem. Downstems are exclusive to pipes with female joints due to the fact that the downstem sits within the joint.  Another measurement to consider when purchasing a new downstem is the joint size.  Joints come in three major sizes: 10mm (not as common as the 14mm & 19mm options), 14.5mm (sometimes advertised as 14mm), and 18.8mm (sometimes advertised as 19mm). Finally, you will need to measure the length of the downstem simply by measuring your old downstem with a ruler.  If your downstem is broken or if you are buying a downstem to upgrade from a different adapter or attachment you can insert a pencil where you would put your downstem while making sure the pencil does not hit the bottom base, marking the pencil & measuring the pencil to the notch you've made. Firecut downstems clog easily but are superior in preserving flavor.  The classic & most common design for the downstem features slits at the filtration end allowing for a tried & true diffusion method.  Shop the downstem collection today at Stoner Strategies & experience something new!

  • Why You Should Season Your Dab Nail

You might be eager to use your dab nail immediately however before you melt any of that fucking sweet shatter into your lungs, you gotta get your dab nail ready.  If you've purchased a glass or ceramic nail they'll be ready for use after they are carefully hand-washed with a little soapy water.  If you have a titanium or quartz nail and decide to skip the "seasoning" step it will greatly affect the taste of your wax and will make your dab nail more susceptible to damage.  Without seasoning your brand-new titanium nail your smoke is going to have a heavy titanium flavor that will go away over time but why ruin your expensive AF concentrate flavor and your smoking experience if you don't have too.  If you are using quartz you'll have to season your nail 4 times more before the taste dissipates. The seasoning material will seep into the pores of the metal protecting it from damage forming a protective layer on your nail.  This layer will prevent oxidation on your nail which takes place when an ionic chemical reaction occurs on a metal's surface while oxygen is present.  If your dab nail has a reoccurring white power then it is most likely that your dab nail is oxidizing and needs to be seasoned.  Inhaling oxidized metals can be toxic to humans so don't fucking smoke your powdery white shit covered dab nail or you'll get hella sick.  This can also be reduced by dropping your dab onto the hot nail as opposed to scraping the legal herb concentrates on the titanium or quartz nail. The scraping of the titanium or glass dabber on the titanium or quartz nail can cause premature oxidation. A high-quality oil like coconut oil or a concentrated legal oil can be used to season your dab nail.  However, get creative with your seasoning materials, some smokers may prefer the flavors from a salt seasoning or vegetable oil as their seasoning depending on the strains of their legal concentrated waxes.  Whatever you choose do not use water to season your dab nail as water will support oxidation. After dropping a dab on your heated nail (about 300 - 400F) you should see the concentrate pool and dissolve into the nail.  You do not want to see your precious concentrates scorching and leaving ash on the top of the nail.  Do not heat your nail to the scorching glowing red color, it only looks pretty it doesn't provide a quality hit of concentrates. How to Season Your Dab Nail Using the Blow Torch Method Heat nail until red hot Cool for 5 seconds or until the nail is about 500F Spread your seasoning material around the top of your dab nail If the temperature was correct the seasoning will melt into the pours of the dab nail Allow to cool to room temperature Repeat if necessary & as needed *Quartz should appear cloudy & Titanium will appear to have a gloss How to Season Your Dab Nail Using the Oven Method Heat oven to 400F Place seasoning material on titanium or quartz nail Place nail in oven for 20 minutes Do not forget about your dab nail Allow nail to cool to room temperature The benefit of this method is that you should not have to repeat this process so long as you used enough seasoning material in step 2. Try both methods or a multitude of materials to season your dab nail and let us know how your dab nail seasoning is working out best for you!  We would love to hear your methods!

  • Whats the Difference Between Ceramic, Titanium & Quartz Dab Nails?

When choosing between using a ceramic, titanium, or quartz dab nail there are a few things to consider before purchasing your new dab nail.  This decision is based upon the customer's personal preferences and the individual smoker needs.  Stoner Strategies has compiled some useful information to help guide our customers on making a more educated decision on their ceramic, titanium, or quartz dab nail purchase. Ceramic Dab nails made from ceramic allows the smoker an excellent full flavor experience with their legal herbs, tobacco, or legal concentrate products.  With about a 30 second heat-up time and the most superior heat retention of all the dab nail material options, ceramic dab nails are truly a great investment for your dab smoking collection.  Made from food and medical grade materials, ceramic dab nails have an average durability tolerance.  If ceramic dab nails are exposed to excessive heat for a long period of time this may cause the ceramic dab nail to crack. Titanium Titanium dab nails offer an acceptable flavor experience.  Ceramic & quartz dab nails are truly superior to the titanium dab nail when comparing the flavor experience.  Taking only a few seconds to heat up, approximately 15 – 25 seconds, you'll be dabbing your legal herbs, tobacco, or legal concentrates in no time.  Titanium dab nails are perfect for those who need to sneak quick dab smoking sessions.  The strength of the titanium makes your titanium dab nail almost indestructible to damage offering the best durability option of dab nail material option. However, titanium dab nails do have their kryptonite, if not properly seasoned titanium dab nails may oxidize (thinking "wtf?  season a dab nail, seriously?"… It's true read more about Seasoning Your Dab Nail Here). Quartz Quartz dab nails, much like the ceramic dab nails, offer an excellent full flavor experience with any flavorful legal herbs, tobacco, or legal concentrate products you may be dabbing.  Quartz dab nails heat up quickly, in about 15 seconds with an average dab nail heat retention capability.  The durability of a quartz dab nail is dependent upon the thickness of the individual quartz dab nail.  Thin quartz dab nails are susceptible to cracking from excessive use.
