French onion soup is a soulful recipe that brings the flavors of traditional french onion soup and cannabis together beautifully.

Cook Time: 1 hour 30 minutes

Ingredients:


  • 4 large yellow onions

  • 2 large sweet onions

  • 5 tablespoons cannabutter

  • 4 sprigs fresh thyme

  • 2 bay leaves

  • 3/4 cup white wine or sherry

  • 4 cups beef broth

  • 1-1/2 cups of water, divided

  • 6 baguettes (diagonally sliced, 1/2-inch-thick)

  • 6 slices Gruyere cheese


Directions:


  1. Preheat oven to 340F/170C.

  2. Slice the onions into thin strings. 

  3. In a large soup pot heat the onions, cannabutter, thyme, and bay leaves over medium-low heat.  

  4. Stir occasionally for 5 minutes or until the onions are caramelized. 

  5. Add the white wine and cook for an additional 3 minutes.

  6. Add beef broth and water. Simmer for about 45 minutes.

  7. Ladle soup into oven-safe bowls, add a slice of bread, and top with a slice of cheese.

  8. Bake for 8 minutes or until the cheese has melted to a golden brown.

  9. Serve hot.
