- How to Decarb Stems and Shake
The decarboxylation aka (decarb) of cannabis stems and shake is the same process of decarbing cannabis buds. Decarboxylation is the process of activating the cannabinoids that include THC and other cannabis byproducts through the process of removing the carbon atoms from the cannabis. In laments terms, you need to heat the cannabis to activate the maximum potential potency. Once the cannabis stems and shake has been decarbed it is then ready to be extracted into butter, oil, or alcohol. It is important to note that you do not want to let cannabis bake over 230F/110C. If it goes over the suggested temperature you run the risk of denaturing the THC to CBN, therefore, making it less potent and causing drowsiness. Kitchen Tools: Oven Grinder Oven Safe Dish Aluminum Foil Ingredients: cannabis stems and/or shake Directions: Start by preheating your oven to 220F/105C. Due to variances that occur over time to even the nicest of ovens please make sure to use a new or newer oven thermometer to ensure you are not exceeding 220F/105C. If necessary grind the cannabis to the consistency of how you would grind your weed for a blunt or joint. You do not want the cannabis to be too fine or too coarse. Spread the cannabis evenly onto an oven-safe dish. Seal tightly with the aluminum foil. Bake in the oven for 40 minutes at 220F/105C. Once the cannabis is done baking, allow it to completely cool BEFORE removing it from the oven and removing the aluminum foil.
