You decarbed it. You infused it. You made something amazing. But unless you store your edibles properly, all that work could go to waste...literally.
Improper storage can cause:
Mold and spoilage
THC or CBD degradation
Accidental ingestion by others
This guide breaks down how to store all kinds of cannabis edibles, from cannabutter to gummies, using safe, smart, and beginner-friendly strategies. Want even more? Grab your copy of our free e-book for dosing charts, infusion tips, and more edible wisdom.

🍪 1. How to Store Baked Edibles (Cookies, Brownies, Cakes)
Short-Term:
Airtight container in the fridge
Line with parchment to avoid sticking
Store for 5–7 days
Long-Term:
Wrap portions in foil or wax paper
Freeze for up to 3 months in a labeled container
Include THC/CBD dosage + creation date
🧠 Pro Tip: Put a sticky note or tape label with “Infused – Not for Kids” if sharing a fridge or freezer. You can get cheap storage containers with locks cheap online for extra protection and we highly recommending splurging on one especially if you have children or teens in the home!
🧈 2. Cannabutter and Infused Oils
Fridge:
Store in a glass container with a tight lid
Good for about a week - if you did not seperate and dry the butter well you run a higher risk of mold if storing in the fridge!
Label with strain, potency, and infusion date
Freezer:
Use silicone molds or ice cube trays
Freeze in single-use doses
Stays fresh for up to 6 months
🍭 3. Gummies, Candies, and Chocolates
Gummies:
Cool, dark space
Avoid moisture (don’t refrigerate unless needed)
Use airtight silicone or mylar containers
Hard Candies:
Very shelf-stable when stored dry
Room temperature is fine
Chocolates:
Store in a cool cupboard or fridge or even the freezer for best long term storage
Watch out for condensation when moving in/out of cold storage
🧠 Reminder: Cannabinoids degrade with light, air, and heat. If you wouldn’t store regular chocolate there, don’t store edibles there either.
🧪 4. Tinctures, Honey, and Syrups
Alcohol-Based Tinctures:
Store in amber glass bottles, clear glass is ok but amber is best!
Cool, dark place (or freezer for max freshness)
Potent and shelf-stable for up to 1 year
Glycerin or Honey-Based Tinctures:
Keep refrigerated
Use within 2–3 months
Look for cloudiness or separation, signs it’s going bad
🔒 5. Keep Your Edibles Away from Kids, Pets & Curious Roommates
This is essential. Store edibles like you would medicine or alcohol:
Use childproof containers
Label everything clearly
Avoid storing in original packaging if it looks like regular food
Store in high cabinets, lockboxes, or sealed fridges and freezers
🚫 Never assume people will “just know” it’s infused. Don’t be that story.
